Drogenboss „El Mencho“ getötet: Mexiko-Kartell nimmt Rache – Warnung an Touristen in Urlaubsparadies 23.02.2026

Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho" and considered one of Mexico's most brutal drug lords, has died following a military operation in Jalisco. The 59-year-old succumbed to his injuries while being transported by helicopter to the capital, a fact confirmed by the Mexican Ministry of Defense, with US authorities contributing intelligence to the operation. His death triggered immediate and violent retaliation from his cartel, the Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), with members blocking roads with burning vehicles and setting fire to businesses across multiple states, including areas near Guadalajara, a 2026 World Cup host city. Tourist destinations like Puerto Vallarta also experienced disturbances, prompting warnings from the US and German embassies for citizens to exercise extreme caution and remain in secure locations. Several airlines canceled flights to affected cities, and some football matches were postponed.
