Dubai regulates how enforcement officers use cameras to document violations - here's what you need to know 03.06.2026

Gulf News

Dubai has implemented new regulations, spearheaded by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to govern the use of recording devices by enforcement officers. Effective June 2, Executive Council Resolution No. 13 of 2026 aims to enhance professional transparency and accountability while safeguarding individual privacy. The resolution specifies that officers are prohibited from filming in sensitive locations such as homes, places of worship, and changing rooms, and individuals must be notified when recording occurs. All footage must be stored securely and encrypted, adhering to Dubai Electronic Security Centre standards, and protected from tampering. Access to recordings is restricted to authorized personnel with written approval for any use or sharing, and the footage cannot be disseminated for personal or unauthorized purposes, strictly limiting sharing to authorized government entities or individuals in accordance with Dubai law.
