DUCSU VP Alleges Two Dozen Projects Approved Under Interim Government Stalled Due to Administration's Non-Cooperation 07.07.2026

Sadiq Kayem, Vice President of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU), has alleged that approximately two dozen important development and service-oriented projects approved during the interim government's tenure are not being implemented due to the non-cooperation of the university administration. In a statement on Tuesday, he stated that six major projects, including the establishment of computer labs with ICT department assistance, IT training, and an innovation hub, are currently at a standstill. Additionally, five projects, such as the renovation of the DUCSU cafeteria, embankment construction for campus ponds, and the construction of walkways with City Corporation assistance, are also stalled. Important initiatives, such as a canteen project worth approximately 20 million BDT and the introduction of a rickshaw system, have also not been implemented. Sadiq Kayem noted that no logical explanation has been provided for these delays, stating that if projects are suspended for political reasons, it would be contrary to the interests of the students. He promised that despite budget deficits, DUCSU will continue its relentless efforts to implement these projects for the welfare of the students.
