During the weapons amnesty, which ran from January to June, the police in the South Moravian Region took in a total of 527 weapons. This is significantly more than during the previous amnesty five years ago, when people handed in approximately 370 weapons. In addition to weapons, officers also collected 32,402 rounds of ammunition and 459 pieces of munitions. The amnesty provided people with the opportunity to surrender unregistered weapons without penalty, thereby avoiding prosecution.
