E-ticket project in northern Lithuania risks losing EU funding over delays 03.07.2026

A €4.1 million regional electronic ticketing project for public transport in northern Lithuania is at serious risk of losing its European Union funding due to ongoing technical problems and delays. The system, covering the city of Šiauliai and the Šiauliai and Radviliškis districts, was originally due for completion by the end of April but has received two extensions, with the latest deadline set for July 15. The absolute deadline for EU-funded completion is July 31. The project is financed through the EU’s Next Generation Lithuania program, receiving €3.42 million from EU funds and €640,000 from the state budget.
