E6 closure leads to increased traffic and restroom visits in Misvær 07.07.2026

The E6 closure between Rognan and Fauske, resulting from extensive damage to a retaining wall discovered in late June, has led to increased traffic through the small village of Misvær in Bodø municipality. The detour route goes via county road 812 through Misvær and Saltstraumen. The increased pressure is clearly felt at the local YX Misvær gas station, where summer employee Victoria Wangberg Nesbak reports a significant increase in both fuel sales and the number of restroom visits. The gas station has extended its opening hours and deployed extra staff to meet the demand. The café "Amors," run by Anette Morsund, is also experiencing more travelers stopping for food or restroom visits. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration apologizes for the inconvenience and is working to set up a temporary bridge, with the E6 scheduled to reopen over the weekend.
