Ebrard anticipates more than $500 million investment in the automotive sector 07.07.2026

The Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, announced that Mexico will receive a new investment of more than 500 million dollars from an automotive company, whose identity will be revealed soon following efforts by President Claudia Sheinbaum. This announcement comes amid industry shifts, specifically following Toyota's decision to move part of the Tacoma model production from Tijuana to Texas, United States. However, the Ministry of Economy clarified that this relocation will be a gradual process concluding in 2030 and that the Guanajuato plant, which employs 2,800 people, will remain operational. On the other hand, INEGI data indicates that Toyota reached fourth place in sales in June 2026, with an annual increase of 4.9%, highlighting the Hilux pickup as its best-selling model.
