A dispute over a bottle of "dropshot" liquor is believed to have led to the fatal assault of 64-year-old Glenn Terhoeven in a supported living facility in Zuidoost. The suspect, 48-year-old Bryan C., claims he attempted to steal the bottle and a struggle ensued, resulting in Terhoeven sustaining multiple skull fractures and later dying in mid-December. However, the Public Prosecution Service disputes C.'s account, with experts suggesting Terhoeven was struck multiple times with a heavy object, possibly a dumbbell found at the scene, and that C. showed no signs of attempted strangulation. Security footage captured C. leaving the room with bloodied Crocs, and his lawyer is pushing for further interviews, including with a woman who was reportedly listening at the door before and after the altercation. The next court session is scheduled for May 12.
