Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have stormed Asaba, the Delta State capital, to conduct an unexpected screening of civil servants, according to SaharaReporters. The exercise, which began last week, took place at several government offices, including the pre-audit office, the Office of the Head of Service, the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, and the Deputy Governor’s Office. A staff member in the Deputy Governor’s Office, speaking anonymously, revealed that workers were initially unaware that the officials were from the EFCC, believing them to be from the Head of Service office. The worker noted that such an exercise had never occurred in the state before, leaving staff uncertain about its purpose or authorization.
