eHealth Agency working towards the European Patient Dossier 07.07.2026

The eHealth Agency is planning a massive expansion of its capacities, increasing the number of employees from 50 to 80. With the new Director General Alexandre Baumeister and President Marc Hostert, the Agency faces the major task of implementing the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The EHDS is expected to be operational by spring 2029, focusing on patient records and prescriptions, followed by medical imaging and laboratory results in 2031. This is intended to facilitate the cross-border exchange of medical information and improve treatment. Additionally, the Electronic Patient Record (DSP) is to become more user-friendly and provide anonymized data for research. The security of patient data is the priority, as public trust is considered the Agency's most important asset.
