„Ein Geschenk an die SPD“ – Polizeigewerkschaft bezeichnet Dobrindt Asyl-Pläne als „höchst unseriös“ 24.02.2026

German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) has proposed allowing asylum seekers to work after three months instead of six, aiming to facilitate integration into the labor market. While economists from Ifo and DIW institutes, along with some CDU politicians, support the initiative as beneficial for the economy and integration, citing Germany's labor shortage, others express strong reservations. The federal police union (DPolG) criticizes the plan as a "gift to the SPD" and a potential "pull factor" that could undermine the government's deportation efforts, suggesting it is "highly unserious" to imply permanent residency through work. Legal experts also warn that it could be counterproductive if asylum seekers are expected to leave the country after their applications are processed, potentially undermining deportation efforts.
