The German private sector's economic activity has accelerated beyond expectations in February, with the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for industry and services rising to 53.1 points, its highest level since October. This figure, reported by S&P Global based on a monthly corporate survey sponsored by Hamburg Commercial Bank, surpasses the 50-point threshold indicating growth and exceeded economists' forecasts of 52.3. Chief Economist Cyrus de la Rubia of Hamburg Commercial Bank anticipates visible GDP growth in the first quarter and expresses optimism for the next twelve months from both service and manufacturing sectors. The industrial sector, in particular, has rebounded with its barometer reaching 50.7 points, driven by increased orders, signaling a confirmed economic turnaround.
