Ekonomi Bakanı Akmal Nasir Nasrullah'a göre, ortalama hane halkı geliri artış gösterse de Malezya'da yükselen yaşam maliyetleri düşük gelirli haneleri ve çalışan yoksulları zorlamaya devam ediyor. Parlamentoya verdiği yanıtta, 2024 Hane Halkı Geliri ve Temel İhtiyaçlar Araştırması verilerine dayanan Bakan, ortalama hane halkı gelirinin 2022'de 8.479 RM'den 2024'te 9.155 RM'ye yükselerek yıllık %3,8 oranında bir büyüme kaydettiğini belirtti. Ancak Malezya İstatistik Departmanı tarafından açıklanan Yoksulluk Sınırı Geliri (PGK), Yaşam Maliyeti Harcaması (PAKW) ve Hane Halkı Yaşam Maliyeti Endeksi (IKSH) verileriyle de teyit edildiği üzere, bu artış temel mal ve hizmetlerin yükselen fiyatları nedeniyle eriyor.
