Former Major League Baseball player Eliézer Alfonzo is hopeful that his wife and daughter are alive under the rubble in La Guaira following a double earthquake. Alfonzo has been actively collaborating with rescue teams, and hope has been renewed after finding his daughter's pet and technological signs of life in the area where the Hotel Eduards was located. Alfonzo had to personally manage the heavy machinery required for the rescue efforts, which was transported from Puerto La Cruz. He was fulfilling professional baseball commitments at the Macuto Forum at the time of the earthquake.
