Victor Pierrel, a 34-year-old para alpine skier, will finally make his Paralympic debut at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games, marking both his first and last appearance before retiring. This opportunity comes four years after a "stupid" training injury, a fractured transverse process and small needles on his vertebrae, forced him to withdraw just five days before the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Games. Consequently, Pierrel spent the Beijing event bedridden in China, watching his teammates compete on television. Having entered parasport after a 2011 skiing accident that left him paraplegic, and enduring numerous injuries including a 2024 head trauma, Pierrel hopes to win a Paralympic medal in Milan-Cortina before concluding his career.
