‘Angry, horrified and mystified’: Dubai hit with retaliatory strikes following US-Israeli attacks on Iran 3d ago

Dubai experienced retaliatory strikes over the weekend following US-Israeli attacks on Iran, leading to the closure of its main airport and a city-wide lockdown with businesses and schools operating remotely. Mike Leventhal, reporting from the 42nd floor in the financial district, described a quiet city with empty streets as residents sheltered in place, expressing gratitude for the UAE's defense systems which intercepted 708 projectiles, including 152 ballistic missiles, 506 drones, and two cruise missiles, with 35 drones falling on UAE territory. Despite the effectiveness of these defenses, residents are reportedly "angry, horrified and mystified" by Iran's decision to attack Dubai, a location without military bases, and are uncertain about the conflict's duration, with President Trump indicating strikes could last several weeks. Debris from intercepted projectiles impacted hotels and Terminal 3 of Dubai Airport, resulting in one fatality and four injuries, though these were not direct hits.
