Boston College women's basketball coach out after eight seasonsWomen's College Basketball 4d ago

Boston College has parted ways with women's basketball head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee after eight seasons, announcing she will not receive a contract extension following the team's 90-65 loss at Syracuse on Sunday. This decision concludes Bernabei-McNamee's tenure in Chestnut Hill, during which the Eagles achieved their fewest wins in a single season since joining the ACC in 2005, finishing this year with a 5-25 overall record and 1-17 in conference play. The university has initiated a national search for her successor, with athletic director Blake James stating it is "simply time for a change." Bernabei-McNamee, 50, was hired in 2018 and notably struggled with player retention in the transfer portal era, with several key recruits finding success at other ACC programs.
