Coastguards lower dog owner down cliff to rescue pet 14d ago

Coastguards successfully rescued a cocker spaniel named Luna from a 40-meter (130ft) cliff near Charmouth, Dorset, on Friday. The dog had fallen and was running excitedly, making it difficult for rescuers to approach. To facilitate the rescue, a dog owner was lowered down the cliff on a rope by coastguard personnel from three bases and two fire stations, including specialists from Charmouth and Weymouth. The presence of her owner calmed Luna, allowing her to be placed in an animal rescue bag. This incident highlights the frequency of such rescues, with emergency services conducting specialized training for these scenarios.
