Congress team visits Sabarmati Riverfront and compares it with Musi Rejuvenation 11d ago

A Telangana Congress delegation, including Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari and MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, visited the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad on Sunday to investigate claims regarding displacement during its development. The team learned that approximately 10,000 families were relocated between 2004 and 2014 as part of the 22-kilometer rejuvenation project, which transformed the river into an urban landmark by diverting water from Sewage Treatment Plants and the Narmada River. This visit was prompted by BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao's assertion that no families were displaced in Sabarmati, contrasting it with alleged displacements in Hyderabad's Musi River rejuvenation project. MP Reddy emphasized the shared goal of river rejuvenation and urban development in both projects and criticized BRS and BJP leaders for opposing the Musi project.
