Emma Bloomberg could've done anything. She chose to help the underdogsPolitics 02.03.2026

Emma Bloomberg, founder and CEO of Murmuration and a USA TODAY 2026 Woman of the Year, is dedicated to empowering local organizations with the data and tools typically reserved for larger entities. Inspired by her father, former NYC Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, and a childhood tradition of reciting the Declaration of Independence, she believes in the American ideal of opportunity. Murmuration, named after the coordinated flight of starlings, works with 269 groups across 26 states, providing resources to candidates and community organizers who often lack access to crucial voter information and technology. This initiative aims to level the playing field, enabling grassroots efforts to compete against well-resourced systems and foster meaningful change at the community level, even as data suggests declining faith in the American dream among younger generations.
