France ready to defend Gulf states under Iranian attack 11d ago

France, alongside Germany and the UK, has declared its readiness to undertake proportionate defensive actions to neutralize Iranian missiles and drones at their origin, following recent attacks on targets in the UAE and a UK base in Cyprus. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot emphasized the priority of protecting national assets while affirming preparedness to assist Gulf partners under international law and upon request. This European solidarity extends to several Gulf and regional states, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan, which have been identified as deliberately targeted. Barrot stressed that any use of force must acquire legitimacy through the UN Security Council.
