Gulf states on verge of acting against Iran over ‘reckless’ strikes across region 7d ago

Gulf states, particularly the UAE, are considering ending their neutrality and acting against Iran in response to repeated "reckless and indiscriminate attacks" on their territory and infrastructure. While a recent GCC foreign ministers' meeting did not explicitly detail a plan, it acknowledged the "option to respond to Iranian attacks" to protect regional security. Iran's diplomatic efforts to portray Israel as the primary destabilizing force appear to have faltered as attacks on hotels, apartment blocks, and oil refineries, including an incident at Saudi Arabia's Ras Tanura refinery and strikes on an oil tanker off Oman and energy facilities in Qatar, have escalated. Qatar, despite its previous disposition towards Iran, has stated such attacks "cannot go unanswered." The UAE reported intercepting a significant number of Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, incurring substantial financial costs. This shift in stance has also led to a rapprochement between the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
