Kalshi licenses election data from the AP 3d ago

Prediction market company Kalshi has secured a deal to license election data from the Associated Press, beginning with the 2026 midterm elections. This partnership aims to enhance the credibility of information on Kalshi's platform amidst the growing popularity of betting in the U.S. The AP will provide Kalshi with vote count data and race calls for national and major state elections, including live vote data, native forecasts, and poll closing times. This move underscores the increasing value of AP's election data beyond traditional news organizations, with other entities like big tech companies and political data firms also showing interest. The AP, which has a history of vote counting dating back to 1848 and achieved 99.9% accuracy in nearly 7,000 races during the 2024 election, has established a dedicated business unit, AP Elections, to expand its data licensing efforts.
