Chas Corrigan, 22, has been found guilty of the unprovoked murder of Saudi Arabian language student Mohammed Algasim, 20, in Cambridge on August 1, last year. The fatal stabbing occurred outside student accommodation near the city's train station, where Mr. Algasim, who was on a 10-week English placement and had no prior connection to Corrigan, was knifed in the neck. Prosecutors stated the attack was senseless, with CCTV footage showing Corrigan approaching Mr. Algasim and a group of others. Following an exchange where Mr. Algasim reportedly said "centre," Corrigan turned back aggressively and stabbed him. The victim died from a single stab wound causing massive bleeding. Corrigan, who denied murder but admitted knife possession, will be sentenced on Wednesday.
