Mysterious Structure on Mars Looks Uncannily Like an Ancient Egyptian Pyramid 13h ago

A pyramid-like geological formation on Mars, dubbed the Candor Tetrahedron, has gained attention on social media and tabloid sites due to its resemblance to an ancient Egyptian pyramid. First identified in 2002 in the Candor Chasma valley, the structure is now understood by scientists to be a natural geological feature. It is a "positive relief knob," a more durable rock formation left standing after billions of years of erosion from water, landslides, and wind. While its dimensions, approximately 290 meters in diameter and 145 meters tall, are notable, the uneven ridges and unequal sides are characteristic of natural erosion, not artificial construction. This phenomenon highlights human pattern recognition, where familiar shapes are perceived in natural landscapes.
