New sex tape scandal exposes how Indonesia’s anti-porn law criminalizes victims 11d ago

A sex tape scandal involving 21-year-old actress Rebecca Klopper has highlighted the problematic nature of Indonesia's anti-pornography law, which can criminalize victims. A video allegedly featuring Klopper has gone viral, leading to calls for her prosecution by groups like the Indonesian Muslim Lawyers Association (ALMI), who cite damage to national morality. However, the Legal Aid Institute of the Indonesian Farmers’ Harmony Association (LBH HKTI) argues Klopper is a victim, suggesting she may have been drugged or pressured, and advocates for prosecuting those who filmed and disseminated the video. Indonesia's Law no. 44/2008 on Pornography does not differentiate between those involved in production and dissemination, potentially leading to severe penalties for all parties, as seen in a 2011 case involving musician Ariel.
