Outcry over much higher parking costs: city council puts a stop to it 3d ago

The Oss city council has decided to adjust the higher parking rates in the city center, which have been in effect since October, following significant criticism from residents and entrepreneurs. A majority of the council will submit a motion on Thursday to change the policy, calling on the mayor and aldermen to implement three concrete adjustments before the summer. These adjustments include stopping paid parking at 8:00 PM instead of 10:00 PM, a maximum daily rate of 6 euros for all parking lots and garages, and a uniform hourly rate of 2 euros for street parking without a daily maximum. The original policy, intended to discourage long-term parkers and make space for cyclists and pedestrians, led to a decrease in revenue for local businesses.
