Qatar halts LNG production after fresh Iran strikes on Gulf 11d ago

Qatar suspended liquefied natural gas (LNG) production on March 2, a move that significantly increased global prices, following two Iranian drone attacks on its energy facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City and Mesaieed Industrial City. QatarEnergy, a major LNG producer, confirmed the cessation of production due to these military assaults. Concurrently, a Saudi oil refinery at Ras Tanura experienced a partial shutdown after being targeted by two drones. These incidents represent a new phase in the Middle East conflict, which escalated after the killing of Iran's supreme leader in US-Israeli strikes, prompting Iran to launch retaliatory attacks across the region. The Dutch TTF natural gas contract, a European benchmark, surged nearly 45 percent to over €46.
