33 mins ago - Uttar Pradesh Religious leader announces Gau Pratistha Dharmayuddh march to Lucknow 7d ago

Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati is launching a "Gau Pratistha Dharmayuddh" march from Varanasi to Lucknow this weekend, protesting alleged government inaction on cow protection. The march follows a 40-day ultimatum demanding the cow be declared 'State Mother' and beef exports banned. This announcement comes amid a molestation case filed against Saraswati in Prayagraj, which he claims is politically motivated, stemming from a prior confrontation with the district administration. The religious leader, who has faced scrutiny over his title and alleged actions at the Magh Mela, plans public meetings in Sultanpur, Raebareli, Naimisharanya, and Unnao before reaching Lucknow on March 11. Opposition parties have pledged support, while Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya affirmed the state's commitment to cow protection.
