Starlink Mobile is preparing a significant upgrade to its satellite-to-phone service, leveraging next-generation V2 satellites to deliver "5G speeds from space." This enhancement promises 100 times the data density of current V1 satellites and approximately 20 times the throughput capability per satellite, enabling seamless streaming, browsing, high-speed apps, and voice calls. The upgraded service, compatible with existing LTE phones, is expected to offer peak speeds of up to 150 Mbps per user. While an exact rollout date is unconfirmed, early testing of the initial V2 service is anticipated around early 2027, with SpaceX planning up to 15,000 new satellites to support this ambitious "5G from space" initiative.
