Stop macOS 26 nagging with one tiny policy tweak 3d ago

A new, simple configuration profile allows macOS users to suppress persistent upgrade nag screens for macOS 26 "Tahoe," which was released in June 2025 and features a new "liquid glass" design that is not universally popular. This method, dubbed "Stop Tahoe Update," involves installing a custom profile that tricks the operating system into believing that version upgrades are prohibited by organizational policy. The process, while Terminal-based, is straightforward: clone a GitHub repository, make scripts executable, run the install-profile script, and then accept the profile in System Settings. The tool also includes scripts for checking status and uninstalling the policy, offering a temporary reprieve for users who are content with their current macOS version or lack the necessary hardware, as "Tahoe" only supports specific Intel-based Mac models.
