Trump administration drops suits against law firms with ties to Democrats and other Trump foes 7d ago

The Trump administration has dropped its legal challenges against four prominent law firms—Perkins Coie, Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr, Jenner & Block, and Susman Godfrey—which had been accused of employing lawyers who investigated or opposed President Trump. These firms, with ties to Democrats and notable legal work, had successfully fought against executive orders that sought to restrict their access to federal government dealings, including classified information and meetings. Federal judges in Washington, D.C., had previously ruled against the administration's actions, deeming them unlawful. The Justice Department notified the appeals court on Monday night of its decision to dismiss the cases, marking an apparent end to a campaign perceived by critics as retribution for Trump's past legal issues and an attempt to intimidate legal professionals.
