Trump administration to drop defense of law firm sanctions, WSJ reports 11d ago

The Trump administration is reportedly planning to drop its appeals defending executive orders that sanctioned four major U.S. law firms, according to The Wall Street Journal. This decision comes amidst escalating U.S.-Iran tensions, with President Trump announcing "major combat operations" against Iran following daytime strikes on March 2. The U.S. Justice Department is expected to abandon appeals against trial-court rulings concerning sanctions on Jenner & Block, WilmerHale, Perkins Coie, and Susman Godfrey. Meanwhile, Iran has confirmed casualties, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and is responding with missile and drone attacks. The U.S. has also reported U.S. service member casualties, with 18 seriously wounded and four fatalities.
