USF hires women's basketball coach Kristy Curry away from Alabama 15h ago

Kristy Curry has been hired as the new head women's basketball coach at South Florida (USF), leaving her 13-year tenure at Alabama. The announcement was made on Tuesday evening, with sources indicating a five-year deal for Curry with the Bulls. USF athletic CEO Rob Higgins expressed excitement about Curry's proven success at the highest collegiate levels, including the Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC. Curry's departure from Tuscaloosa comes shortly after Alabama's NCAA Tournament second-round loss to Louisville. She will succeed interim coach Michele Woods-Baxter at USF, which previously saw long-time coach Jose Fernandez depart for the WNBA's Dallas Wings. Curry's extensive coaching history includes successful stints at Purdue and a more challenging period at Texas Tech before her time with the Crimson Tide.
