Entsendung von US-Lazarettschiff Ein deutliches "No thanks" aus Grönland 22.02.2026

U.S. President Trump's announcement to send a hospital ship to Greenland was met with rejection and amusement from Greenland and Denmark. Greenland's Premier Jens-Frederik Nielsen stated, "No thanks," emphasizing Greenland's free public healthcare system and suggesting Trump should communicate directly with Greenlanders rather than making social media pronouncements. The initiative appears to stem from the evacuation of a U.S. sailor from a submarine near Greenland for medical treatment, a situation Trump misrepresented as widespread lack of care. Danish officials, including Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen and Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, confirmed Greenland's adequate healthcare and expressed no need for external medical aid, viewing Trump's actions as characteristic of new international political trends. Greenland has five hospitals, and its healthcare, like Denmark's, is free for all citizens.
