Erste Umfragen vor Landtagswahl in Rheinland-Pfalz: Grüne abgeschlagen – SPD holt auf 23.02.2026

The upcoming Landtag election in Rheinland-Pfalz on March 22nd is anticipated to bring significant shifts in political representation, with current polls indicating a potential reversal of fortunes for major parties. The SPD, which has governed for 34 years, faces a challenge as recent surveys show them trailing the CDU, despite Minister President Alexander Schweitzer being more popular than his CDU opponent Gordon Schnieder. In contrast to their 2021 victory with 35.7 percent, the SPD's current standing is less certain. The AfD, which secured only 8.3 percent in 2021, is projected to make substantial gains, potentially in the double digits. The Green Party is positioned in fourth place, while Die Linke might achieve representation in the state parliament for the first time. The electoral threshold of five percent poses a challenge for parties like the FDP, BSW, and Freie Wähler.
