Etats-Unis : Le plus grand porte-avions du monde entre en Méditerranée, sur fond de menace de frappes en Iran 20.02.2026

The world's largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald-Ford, entered the Mediterranean Sea on Friday, February 20th, amidst escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. This strategic deployment, marked by the carrier transiting the Strait of Gibraltar, signifies an increased U.S. military presence in the region, joining the USS Abraham-Lincoln which has been in the Middle East since late January. This naval buildup coincides with diplomatic uncertainty, as President Donald Trump stated he is "considering" a limited strike against Iran if negotiations regarding its nuclear program fail, with a decision deadline of ten to fifteen days. The U.S. military's enhanced capabilities also include a significant air fleet, featuring advanced fighter jets and refueling aircraft, underscoring the evolving military posture as nuclear discussions with Iran continue.
