Ethiopia concluded a five-day diplomatic training program for South Sudanese diplomats in Addis Ababa from June 5-9, 2026. Organized by the Institute of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the program aimed to bolster regional cooperation and enhance diplomatic capacity in Africa. Topics covered included Pan-Africanism, negotiation, hydro-politics, peacekeeping, and conflict resolution, with a special focus on deepening bilateral ties between Ethiopia and South Sudan. State Minister Ambassador Hadera Abera emphasized the program's role in fostering professional exchange and mutual understanding, citing the Victory of Adwa as a symbol of African unity. The training also served as a platform for dialogue and cultural exchange, equipping diplomats with practical skills to address regional challenges, as noted by South Sudanese Ambassador Butros Thok Deng and participant Ambassador Achwil Biong Arop Kuol.
