Ethiopia has made significant progress toward building a secure and resilient digital ecosystem, Information Network Security Administration (INSA) Director-General Tigist Hamid announced at an international cybersecurity and artificial intelligence conference in Addis Ababa. The country's national cybersecurity policy was comprehensively revised in 2024 to address emerging technologies, evolving cyber threats, and international best practices. This revision has led to a legal and institutional framework covering critical information infrastructure protection, personal data protection, electronic transactions, telecom fraud, and cybercrime. Tigist highlighted that Ethiopia has expanded its cybersecurity capabilities through security operations centers, advanced threat intelligence, cyber incident response systems, and continuous monitoring.
