The Coalition of Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations for Elections (CECOE) has reported that Ethiopia's 7th General Election, held on June 3, 2026, was characterized by high voter turnout and a generally peaceful process, with diligent election officials overseeing voting at polling stations. CECOE's preliminary observation report, based on 2,506 sitting and 867 mobile observers who monitored 7,723 polling stations (15% of the total), indicated active participation from political parties and the media with no major flaws observed. While most polling stations complied with election rules, the CECOE noted some issues, including polling stations in prohibited locations, campaigning near stations, denial of observer entry at a few sites, unauthorized assistance, and minor security disruptions. The coalition commended Ethiopians for their engagement and urged patience in awaiting results and utilizing legal channels for grievances.
