European Commission spokesperson Guillaume Mercier confirmed on Thursday that Brussels received Spain's first needs assessment on Wednesday and is now reviewing it. The next step requires Spain to formally submit an application, which has not yet been finalized, nor has the amount of funding been determined. The potential funding could be used for border management equipment, temporary shelters, food, medical assistance, and emergency personnel.
