Effective June, Germany and other EU member states will find it easier to deport asylum seekers to third countries, even without a personal connection to those nations. This legislative change, which has been definitively approved, removes the requirement to examine an asylum claim within the EU before deportation. New "safe third countries" have been designated, including Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Kosovo, Colombia, India, and Bangladesh, with the potential for EU accession candidates to also be classified as such. While faster asylum procedures are intended to facilitate these deportations, the underlying reasons for asylum applications will continue to be considered.
