Ex-Oberbürgermeister kündigt Kandidatur an und tritt in CSU ein: „Kommunalpolitik ist mein Leben“ 21.02.2026

Christian Schuchardt, the former Mayor of Würzburg, has announced his candidacy for a seat on the city council, six months after stepping down from his mayoral position to lead the German Association of Cities (Deutscher Städtetag). Schuchardt, who previously served as Würzburg's first CDU mayor in Bavaria and now holds a CSU party membership, stated that local politics is his life and he wishes to continue contributing his expertise to the city's future. He believes his role as head of the municipal association will help him stay connected to grassroots issues. Schuchardt is running on the CSU list at position 20 for the upcoming municipal election on March 8th, where approximately 100,000 voters will decide the composition of the city council.
