Que va-t-il arriver à l’ex-président Sud Coréen Yoon Suk Yeol, reconnu coupable d’insurrection ? 19.02.2026

Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of leading an insurrection on the night of December 3-4, 2024. The Seoul Central District Court determined that Yoon's intention was to paralyze the National Assembly by declaring martial law, a move he justified by citing "hostile state forces." Although his coup attempt lasted only six hours before lawmakers managed to reconvene, it significantly disrupted the nation, causing market turmoil, international shock, and a deep domestic political crisis. This conviction follows Yoon's suspension by the National Assembly, his arrest, and his subsequent impeachment in April, with his rival Lee Jae Myung winning the snap presidential election in June. Several former collaborators, including the ex-Minister of Defense Kim Yong-hyun (sentenced to 30 years), ex-Prime Minister Han Duck-soo (23 years), and ex-Minister of the Interior Lee Sang-min (7 years), have also received prison sentences for their roles in the events.
