External advertising under review as the city revises regulations 07.07.2026

Mariehamn City has decided to conduct a comprehensive review of the current regulatory framework regarding signage and digital screens. This review of external advertising could have direct consequences for local actors, including Alandica's digital advertising screens, which may be subject to the new regulations. The purpose of the review is to regulate how advertising is displayed in the cityscape. At the same time, several other events are reported from Åland, such as police efforts against loud music and drunk driving at Ångbåtsbryggan, as well as a dispute over cold apartments that has been resolved through a settlement. Furthermore, Ålands Centralandelslag plans to use Finnish dairy ingredients in its cheese production until the end of the year to secure supplies. This development reflects a period of both regulatory changes and practical adaptations across several different sectors on the islands.
