Mort de Quentin Deranque : « l’extrémisme violent de gauche est en hausse », réagit l’administration Trumpà 17h06 20.02.2026

The Trump administration has condemned the political violence attributed to the far-left following the death of 23-year-old nationalist activist Quentin Deranque in Lyon, France. U.S. Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers stated on X that killing people for their opinions places them outside civilization, and the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Counterterrorism highlighted a rising threat from "left-wing violent extremism," citing Deranque's death as evidence. The U.S. Embassy in France echoed these sentiments, confirming ongoing monitoring of the situation. This incident has also sparked a diplomatic exchange between French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who expressed solidarity with France and concern over ideological hate. Six individuals have been indicted for voluntary homicide, and an assistant to a French lawmaker has been charged with complicity in the murder.
