A widely circulated photo claiming to show the "Toboso 19," who died in an armed encounter in Negros Occidental on April 19, holding flags of communist-linked groups has been determined to be 99% likely AI-generated. The fake image, which gained significant traction on social media, depicts the individuals holding flags of organizations such as the Communist Party of the Philippines, New People’s Army, National Democratic Front, Kilusang Mayo Uno, Anakpawis, and Bayan Muna. A comparison with a genuine photo posted earlier shows significant alterations to the faces in the fake image and that the group in the original photo was not holding any flags. Human Rights Advocates Negros has described the manipulated photo as an attempt at "red-tagging."
