FACT CHECK: Sarah Discaya ‘confession’ on stealing public funds is a deepfake 26.06.2026

Rappler

A video purporting to show detained businesswoman Sarah Discaya confessing to stealing public funds is a deepfake, according to a fact-check by Rappler. Posted on June 17 by the Facebook page “ebodskz.tv,” the video had garnered over 10,000 views, 800 reactions, and 435 shares as of writing. The video’s caption claimed her arrest was “rushed” to prevent her from implicating others in corruption. In the manipulated footage, Discaya appears to say she and politicians are stealing from the people’s money and that the system forces contractors to pay kickbacks. Users urged her to name names, seemingly believing the clip.
