Far-right pro-Israel group Betar US to end activity in New York: NY AG says 14.01.2026

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced a settlement with the far-right pro-Israel group Betar US, mandating the gradual cessation of its operations in New York. The Attorney General's office concluded an investigation revealing Betar US engaged in "widespread persecution" and bias-motivated harassment against Muslim, Arab, Palestinian, and Jewish New Yorkers, aiming to suppress free expression and lawful protest. The group, known for aggressive tactics including surveillance and inflammatory social media posts, has agreed to dissolve its not-for-profit corporation and cease harassing individuals. Betar US faces a suspended $50,000 penalty if it violates the settlement terms. This action follows Betar's prior involvement in providing lists of pro-Palestine students to the Trump administration for potential deportation.
