Reform denies rules broken by Farage after benefits from ally not declared 05.07.2026

Nigel Farage's spokesperson has denied allegations that the Reform UK leader violated parliamentary rules regarding undeclared benefits from ally George Cottrell. Reports from The Sunday Times suggest Cottrell, who was convicted of wire fraud in the US, provided security, social media staff, and property near Buckingham Palace to Farage prior to his election as Clacton MP in July 2024. Farage's team argues these "in kind" benefits were personal rather than political, as they occurred while he was not an active politician. This controversy follows an ongoing parliamentary probe into a £5 million gift from billionaire Christopher Harborne, which Farage claims was for personal security. While Farage has registered certain trips and flights provided by Cottrell, the Labour Party has criticized the situation as a growing scandal involving secret payments and potential attempts to avoid transparency.
